Athens Free Clinic

At the request of the Athens-Clarke County Unified Government and with coordination from the Georgia Emergency Management Agency, the Northeast Health District is partnering with the Athens Free Clinic, itself a product of the Augusta University/University of Georgia Medical Partnership, to provide mobile COVID-19 testing to Athens-Clarke County residents who lack access to health care.

Clarke County Health Department

To schedule FREE COVID testing at one of the public health operated sites, call 706-340-0996, Monday-Friday from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM, Saturday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.

Athens Neighborhood Health Center

The Mission of the Athens Neighborhood Health Center is to provide affordable, high quality healthcare to all individuals in Athens-Clarke County and surrounding areas.


Patients who do not have insurance are charged on a sliding scale fee schedule which is based on yearly income and family size.

Mercy Health Center

Mercy provides medical, dental, pharmacy, and health educational services to the low-income uninsured of Clarke, Barrow, Jackson, Madison, Oglethorpe, and Oconee counties.The clinic is currently open, but they are asking patients to call their office, 706-425-9445, with any questions or needs and to not enter the building until you have talked with their staff.

Athens Nurses Clinic 

The Athens Nurses Clinic is a non-profit 501(c)(3) health care clinic providing free evaluation, treatment, and education for acute and chronic medical and dental conditions to uninsured low-and-no income residents of Athens-Clarke County and the surrounding communities.

Shifa Clinic

Shifa Clinic Athens is a non-profit clinic with a mission to provide free healthcare services to those under-insured in the Athens, GA area. All patients must be (a) medically underinsured and (b) living within 200% of the poverty line. Patients must also bring one form of photo identification, such as a driver's license (may be expired or from another country).  They are open every Saturday from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM via appointment (call 706-850-4588) or drop-in (435 Hawthorne Ave, Athens GA 30606). COVID-19 screening hotline is available every day from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, in English (706-431-7334) and Spanish (706-407-1864).
